Fortnite, one of the pioneers of the Battle Royale genre, announced that they will donate its revenues to Ukraine and humanity for a while with its new season.
With the news announced by Fortnite on its official Twitter account, between March 20 and April 3, all revenues including memberships, subscriptions, V-Bucks purchases, cosmetic packages will be donated to Ukraine for support purposes. (A different purchase type of V-Bucks will not be included.)
Microsoft will also commit all of its revenue to Fortnite for its effort.
The proceeds will be donated to many different organizations such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations Children's Fund and the World Food Programme. More companies are expected to participate in these donations in the coming weeks.
Epic Games says they will try to send money to these organizations pretty quickly.
Prior to that, an indie game bundle on Itch.io had raised more than 6 million dollars to protest the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Ukraine-focused Humble Bundle has also raised over 9 million dollars for donations.
What do you think about this subject? Do you think this move of Fortnite will be successful?
