Subaru's year-defying car, the WRX STI, can now turn into an electric model.
In a press release by Subaru on Friday, it was said that a fossil fuel-powered variation of the next-generation WRX STIs is not being studied. “Subaru is working on next-generation WRX STI opportunities, including electric models,” the company explained, and will not produce a fossil fuel-powered WRX STI based on the WRX platform.
The reason for the change cites greenhouse gases (GHG), zero emission vehicles (ZEV) and the necessity to comply with the justifications of the Institutional Average Fuel Economy Economy (CAFE).
